Sanmar-built VB NORWEGIAN FALCON features RAstar 3200 SX design, ASD propulsion and more than 6,700 hp
Boluda Towage has expanded its Norwegian fleet with the addition of VB NORWEGIAN FALCON, a new tug built by Sanmar Shipyards to support towing, vessel assistance and offshore operations in demanding maritime environments.
The vessel represents a further step in Boluda Towage’s development strategy across the Nordic region, where challenging weather conditions, high operational standards and intensive port and offshore activity place significant demands on tug performance and reliability.
Built to the RAstar 3200 SX design developed by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd., VB NORWEGIAN FALCON is equipped with azimuth stern drive (ASD) propulsion, delivering more than 6,700 hp and a bollard pull of 90 tonnes.
The tug’s hull has been designed to optimise manoeuvrability, stability and safety in challenging sea conditions. Its combination of power, seakeeping capabilities and high-performance propulsion makes the vessel suited to the operational requirements of the Norwegian maritime market.
The new tug also complies with IMO Tier III emissions requirements, which impose stringent limits on nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from marine diesel engines.
The addition of VB NORWEGIAN FALCON further strengthens Boluda Towage’s presence in Scandinavia, expanding the resources available to support port operations, vessel manoeuvring, towing and offshore activities.
The investment reflects the company’s continued focus on developing a modern, specialised fleet capable of meeting the operational demands of key maritime markets across Northern Europe.
