City Barging’s New 100% Electric Tugs Set to Make Waves in Amsterdam

Amsterdam’s waterways are about to witness the arrival of City Barging’s 100% electric City Tug 1 and City Tug 2. These purpose-built pusher tugs mark a remarkable advancement in the realm of inner-city transport with their cutting-edge features and eco-friendly design.

What sets these boats apart is their unique design, measuring 6.00 meters in length, they have the capability to push a combination of up to 20.0 meters long and 4.25 meters wide barge with 70 tons of cargo.

Built by Talsma Shipyards these pusher boats boast the coveted SI-approval, equipped with 240kWh battery power each, and possess the ability to push approximately 120 tons of cargo.

The collaboration behind these groundbreaking tugs involves City Barging, Talsma Shipyards, Fred van Dorresteijn, powered by Transfluid S.p.A / Bellmarine full electric propulsion system and E-Ship BV expertly installing them.

This remarkable achievement in sustainable shipping is a testament to the continuous advancements in the maritime industry. With cargo transportation being a crucial aspect of any bustling city, the introduction of these fully electric push boats is a step towards a greener future, minimizing environmental impact while maintaining efficiency.
