Agalas Orders Second Newbuild Vessel for Growing Offshore Energy Markets

Norwegian shipowner Agalas has recently placed an order for its second vessel in less than a year. The company aims to target the growing activity in offshore energy markets and the need for green assets amongst traditional offshore players with its new subsea support vessel.

Designed by NSK Ship Design, it uses methanol dual fuel and battery propulsion that will reduce emissions by up to 70%. The vessel is anticipated to be delivered in 2025 from Sefine Shipyard in Turkey, coinciding with an expected upswing in the offshore market.

This new vessel offers accommodation for up to 100 personnel, a large open deck, a helideck, a dedicated ROV hangar, and a 150-ton AHC crane. This innovative vessel is expected to have a significant impact on the offshore energy markets, and Agalas is leading the way to change the industry.

The company has ordered another green vessel last year, a cable layer that will also be constructed by Sefine Shipyard, which is expected to be ready for delivery in 2025. The cable contractor Cecon Contracting has secured the right to hire that vessel upon completion.

Agalas is owned by NSK Ship Design, Ytterstad Fiskeriselska, and Kransvik Kystfiske, which are all players in the fishing industry. Agalas is setting a new benchmark for green offshore vessels, contributing to reducing environmental pollution.
