Aegean Tugs’ new Damen ASD Tug 2811 will enhance harbour towage operations with proven performance and fast availability
Damen Shipyards has secured a contract from Greece-based Aegean Tugs Shipping Company for an ASD Tug 2811, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of next year thanks to the Dutch shipbuilder’s stock-building programme.
The order highlights the advantage of Damen’s stock-building strategy, which enables significantly shorter delivery times by constructing vessels ahead of confirmed sales. With the tug already nearing completion, delivery will take place in Kalymnos, in Greece’s Dodecanese islands, where Aegean Tugs Shipping Company is based.
Measuring 28.57 metres in length with an 11.43-metre beam and delivering 60 tonnes of bollard pull, the ASD Tug 2811 has been designed to provide the manoeuvrability and performance required for modern harbour towage operations. The compact tug combines high towing capability with operational efficiency, making it well suited to a wide range of port duties.
Prior to delivery, Damen will customise the vessel to meet Aegean Tugs’ operational and regulatory requirements. The modifications include the installation of FiFi 1 firefighting capability, a towing winch and additional equipment required to comply with Greek flag state regulations.
