Evotec, a leading provider of advanced maritime and offshore solutions and part of the Entec Group, has been selected to supply its newly developed explosion-proof Launch and Recovery System (LARS) units for installation on two offshore drilling rigs/vessels.
“The new systems represent a new and potentially big market for Evotec. We have already several new quotations on similar systems out to new customers. Ex-proof simply means that these units can be installed in areas onboard the rig/vessel that are defined as explosion-areas. Our new Ex-LARS will be delivered capsuled in such a way that they can not expose their surroundings for any sparks or similar onboard”, says Pål Måløy, product manager Offshore.
“The initial collaboration began through Evotec’s After Sales and Service department, where the company made improvements to existing onboard systems, exceeding the client’s high expectations. This success has now led to the signing of the first two contracts. “, says Måløy.
Evotec goals are to be the preferred supplier in our selected market areas, this includes Ex-proof systems, and these contracts represents our commitment to the industry. The explosion proof LARS will be delivered certified by country authorities and main units are winches, L-frames (Evotec compact LARS), motor and drive units, HPU, bullets, automation and control systems, as well as commissioning and start-up.
The Ex-LARS features speed control, automatic spooling/parametric controlled, length and tension measurement, tension setting, automatic depth setting, Active Heave Compensation (allowing the vessel/rig to operate the ROV in harsh weather conditions), and Evotec “Anti-Snatch”umbilical tension system (protecting the umbilical from snatch-loads).
Quote customer; “We are very satisfied with the work performed by Evotec and look forward receiving these unique new Ex-LARS unitsfrom them. We believe this is just the start of our collaboration and look forward to the continuation”.
Deliveries will take place first part of 2025 and continues till end 25. “The contract also includes options for additional systems, marking the beginning of an important new collaboration for Evotec.”, says Pål Måløy.
