Goodchild Marine’s new contract will see the acclaimed Norfolk boatbuilder make a return to its roots.
Managing director Alan Goodchild built his first fishing boat for his hometown of Great Yarmouth, shortly after he set up the company 42 years ago.
Now regarded as industry trailblazers for a range of flagship ORC pilot vessels, the team is making a return to the fishing boat market with the new Rorcal 121.PS.
The Rorcal 121.PS, due for delivery in spring 2021, will operate on the Isle of Skye for the Skye Shellfish Company Limited, and incorporate many of the key features that have become renowned on boats constructed by Goodchild Marine.
The vessel can comfortably seat four and reach a maximum speed of 13 knots.
Steve Pierce, General Manager said: “From day one the fishing industry was an important market for Goodchild Marine and we feel now is a key time to give our support to our UK fishermen as we enter the post Brexit era.
“The Rorcal 121 will exhibit lots of our usual features, with an emphasis on reduced running costs, environmental impact, easy maintenance and above all outstanding sea keeping.
“We are hoping our order from Skye Shellfish will be the first in a line of new Goodchild fishing boats for use across the UK and that we are able to expand and adapt our range to suit the business needs of various operators.”
