De Boer & De Groot and Ploegam strengthen sustainable maritime operations with electric zero-emission workboats investment
Dutch shipbuilder Groeneveldt Marine Construction has been commissioned by De Boer & De Groot and Ploegam to construct three fully electric workboats, underlining the growing industry focus on sustainable and zero emission maritime operations.
The vessels will be based on Groeneveldt’s Easy Worker E-EW platform, the fully electric variant of the company’s established Easy Worker workboats. Designed for zero-emission operations, the vessels replace conventional combustion engines with advanced battery pack systems tailored to operational requirements, including sailing profiles and anticipated working hours.
Klaas Groeneveldt, director of Groeneveldt Marine Construction said, “Emission-free working is what we have found each other in! We are very happy with the trust and look forward to a successful collaboration within this great project. Together we work on quality, craftsmanship and a strong future on the water.”
The Easy Worker E-EW workboats offer extensive customisation possibilities, enabling the vessels to be configured to meet the exact operational requirements of the owners through a broad range of optional features and onboard systems.
The contract marks another significant milestone in the continued adoption of electric workboats across the European maritime industry as operators increasingly invest in low-emission and future-ready vessel solutions.
