The JB 121 three-legged accommodation and services jack-up offers accommodation for up to 354 personnel, further expanding Jack-Up Barge’s offshore project support capabilities
Jack-Up Barge has officially welcomed its latest fleet addition, JB 121, following a vessel christening ceremony at Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co.(DSOC) in Dalian, China. The three-legged accommodation and services jack-up marks a further step in the company’s fleet expansion and strengthens its capabilities to support large-scale offshore energy projects.
The ceremony brought together representatives from Jack-Up Barge, Van Es Group and project partners to celebrate the vessel’s formal introduction. JB 121 was blessed by her godmother, Ms Yu Yuan, a member of the DSOC Board, before the traditional breaking of a champagne bottle against the vessel marked the occasion.
Earlier this year, Jack-Up Barge initiated the acquisition of JB 121 as part of its ongoing fleet development. The addition of JB 121 further strengthens a fleet that also includes JB 114, JB 115, JB 117 and JB 120, expanding the company’s ability to support a broad range of offshore installation, commissioning, maintenance and accommodation campaigns.
The three-legged jack-up features a truss-leg design with a rack-and-pinion jacking system, providing a stable platform for offshore works. The unit offers modern accommodation for up to 354 personnel, allowing it to support large offshore project teams during offshore campaigns.
JB 121 is equipped with three cranes: a 200-tonne Working Load Limit (WLL) main crane located on the cantilever, increasing operational reach alongside offshore structures, and two 50-tonne WLL auxiliary cranes for additional lifting support.
The unit further offers approximately 1,340 m² of deck space, providing substantial working and storage capacity for offshore operations.
Originally developed as part of the proven GustoMSC AJ-series, JB 121 is designed to provide a safe and stable offshore working environment for large-scale energy projects.
“JB 121 represents an important strategic addition to our fleet,” said Frank Kees, Managing Director of Jack-Up Barge. “The combination of extensive accommodation capacity, deep-water capability and offshore crane support allows us support larger and increasingly complex offshore projects, particularly within the offshore wind sector.”
Following the naming ceremony, JB 121 is scheduled to depart from the yard in Dalian for the Netherlands at the beginning of November.
