The keel laying ceremony for the groundbreaking WIND Flyer Trimaran Fast Crew Boat has taken place at Marsun in Thailand, marking a significant milestone in offshore innovation for the oil and gas industry. This 35-metre Semi-SWATH trimaran is set to redefine offshore operations with its advanced design, enhanced speed, and superior stability in challenging sea conditions.
The WIND Flyer project is the result of exceptional collaboration between Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Uniwise Offshore, Wind Naval Architects, and Marsun Public Company Limited. Their combined expertise has brought this game-changing vessel to life, designed to improve efficiency, safety, and crew comfort in offshore operations.
The WIND Flyer Trimaran is specifically engineered to operate in wave conditions up to 2.5 meters—both during transfer and transit—significantly boosting operational availability. Its three slender hulls, paired with motion damping foils, enable:
- High-speed transit of 34 knots
- Enhanced stability and safety during crew transfers, thanks to its Semi-Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (Semi-SWATH) hull design.
- Superior manoeuvrability with a waterjet propulsion system, offering excellent station-keeping capabilities via its virtual anchoring system.
