Kewatec has signed a contract to deliver a new research vessel to Norway

Kewatec has signed a contract with Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) to deliver a new research vessel. The 23-metre long research vessel will be delivered to Trondheim in autumn 2022.

Both parties have signed the agreement in both Trondheim and Kokkola at a digital meeting on Thursday morning, July 1, 2021. The agreement strengthens Kewatec’s already strong order stock and is in value the largest agreement ever for one vessel.

“We have seen the Norwegian professional boat markets as one of the most demanding and have for a long time invested in the Norwegian market through our own subsidiary Martec AS in Bergen. We have an extensive local partner network for component deliveries and local design. This serves Norwegian customers in the best possible way in the long term and thus also promotes local aftermarket. The concept has proved successful and on the basis of the agreement with NGU, we can once again show that cross-border cooperation contributes to good results. We are confident that the collaboration with NGU will be successful, and we thank NGU for the confidence in us,” says Kent Björklund, Chairman of the Board of Oy Kewatec Aluboat Ab.

Environment, sustainability and quality at the forefront

“The new research vessel will help us perform our tasks safely, sustainably and efficiently,” says May Britt Myhr, head of the NGU. We are very pleased with our agreement with Kewatec and are confident that we will have a ship that meets all environmental, operational and quality requirements,” says Myhr.
