Macduff Ship Design Strengthens UK Presence

The expansion establishes Macduff Ship Design’s first regional branch, bringing the company closer to clients throughout England and Wales

Scotland-based Macduff Ship Design is strengthening its UK presence with the opening of its first regional branch, establishing a permanently staffed office in Devon to enhance support for owners and operators of small commercial vessels across the UK.

Following several months of planning and preparation, the new South-West England office will provide the company with a stronger regional presence, enabling closer engagement with clients throughout the area and further afield across England and Wales.

The expansion reinforces Macduff Ship Design’s commitment to supporting the small commercial vessel sector, including fishing vessel owners, workboat operators and other commercial marine operators.

Scheduled to open in early 2027, the branch will provide a comprehensive range of naval architectural services, with close support from the main office in Macduff, including:

  • Stability assessments and regulatory support
  • Vessel conversion and modification assistance
  • New vessel design and development
  • General naval architecture consultancy services

The expansion reflects Macduff Ship Design’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical, professional, and locally accessible support to vessel owners and operators throughout the UK.

“We are excited to establish a permanent presence in the South-West and look forward to supporting both existing and new clients in the region. The new branch will enhance our ability to provide responsive, hands-on support for the fishing and commercial marine sectors.” Ian Ellis managing  director Macduff Ship Design.
