Maritime Montering to Outfit CMAL New Electric Ferries

Maritime Montering Poland will deliver the complete interior outfitting package for seven new electric ferries being built by Remontowa Shipbuilding for Scottish owner Caledonian Maritime Assets

Newbuild ship interior specialist Maritime Montering Poland has been selected by Gdańsk-based Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. to deliver turnkey interior accommodation for seven new electric ferries. The vessels are being constructed for Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) and will operate on key island routes across Scotland, supporting the country’s vital lifeline ferry network.

The contract was awarded to Maritime Montering Poland following a competitive international tender process involving ten ship interior companies from different countries.

“It is a great honor for us to be selected for this project. With ten invited ship interior companies from across Europe, our bid received the highest score following a thorough evaluation of the interior offer,” says Pawel Walczak, Head of Commercials at Maritime Montering Poland.

Under the contract, Maritime Montering will be responsible for the turnkey interior accommodation of both crew and passenger areas, including:

  • Interior design
  • Furniture production
  • Installation works
  • Insulation
  • All related outfitting works required to ensure the vessels are fully ready for passengers on board

The project will be managed locally by Maritime Montering’s operations team in Gdańsk, where the company has been serving the interior outfitting needs of local shipyards since 2008.

“Our companies have been working together for many years, and this next newbuild milestone further strengthens our cooperation and opens the door to many more exciting shipbuilding projects together.”

Each of the seven ferries will be designed to carry up to 150 passengers, 5 crew members, and 24 cars, providing essential transport connections between Scotland’s scenic islands, including routes in the Hebrides archipelago.

With fully electric propulsion, the ferries will bring increased transport capacity while supporting cleaner and more sustainable travel for island and rural communities.

While Remontowa Shipbuilding ensures the vessels meet some of the strictest environmental standards in the industry, Maritime Montering will contribute by creating comfortable, functional and high-quality onboard spaces designed to enhance the passenger experience.

Delivery of all seven vessels is planned between 2027 and 2028.

“We look forward to contributing our many years ship interior expertise to the further progress of these vessels and helping create a comfortable onboard travel experience for years to come,” adds Walczak.

With the trust of more than 140 shipyards worldwide, Maritime Montering delivers turnkey interior solutions for a wide range of vessel types — from fishing and naval vessels to ferries and cruise. To date, Maritime Montering has delivered interiors for more than 1,200 newbuild vessels worldwide, in addition to numerous refit projects.
