The collaboration between Moen Marin and Pascal Technologies has received Enova support to develop the NabWork 1240 Electric. This all-electric and emission-free vessel will function as a personnel transport boat, with space for 10 passengers.
We greatly appreciate the support we receive from Enova in this project, so we can continue to be at the forefront of new and sustainable technology. We have demonstrated that the technology works and gives good results, and we believe that this will be highly sought after as soon as the vessel is demonstrated in the market.
The production of the vessel is part of the collaboration with the aim of meeting the demand for zero emissions and energy efficiency within service and farming vessels. There is a particular focus on the work for more sustainable solutions in the industry, at the same time that it should not be at the expense of other qualities, for example range and speed.
“For us, this is a very exciting collaboration that opens up the electrification of new relevant segments in the industry, where personnel transport is first,” says Terje Andreassen, general manager of Moen Marin.
The vessel is built with Pascal’s AirHull technology, a hull that lifts the boat partially out of the water by creating an air pocket between the hull and the sea. This reduces energy consumption, enabling both higher speed and longer range. This technology can potentially reduce the energy consumption of planing boats by up to 50 percent, compared to traditional hulls. This function does not come at the expense of comfort either, but uses systems that ensure smooth and efficient movement in the water. The vessel will have a service speed of 20-25 knots, as well as a range of up to 40 nautical miles – leading qualifications for all-electric vessels.
“The project with Moen Marin is an exciting opportunity for us at Pascal. We look forward to starting the development of the electric high-speed personnel transport boats of the future with a record long range. The Enova support is an important catalyst for realizing this and helps to drive forward sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions in the maritime sector.” Carl Rehn, CEO Pascal Technologies.
Moen Marin is the world’s largest supplier of work vessels to the aquaculture industry, and shows the way for increased sustainable development within the industry. In 2023, Moen Marin will exclusively deliver hybrid vessels, in addition to equipment and green solutions for diesel-powered workboats.
Pascal Technologies is a maritime technology company, and focuses on innovative solutions with the ultimate goal of achieving zero emissions. Pascal is the developer of the innovative AirHull technology used on this vessel.
Traditionally, high speed is directly linked to increased energy consumption on vessels. With this new technology, quality is not sacrificed despite the focus on sustainability. In this way, Moen Marin and Pascal Technologies will continue to be leading players for sustainable developments in the industry, and together we will bring the electric solutions of the future to the market.
