Aluminium passenger vessel designed by M2Engineers will provide high-capacity passenger transport across NLG’s Italian routes
Turkish specialised commercial workboat builder Nova Shipyard has signed a contract with Italian ferry operator Navigazione Libera del Golfo (NLG S.p.A.) for the construction of a new 52-metre aluminium high-speed passenger vessel.
Designed by Italian naval architecture firm M2Engineers, the new vessel will accommodate up to 655 passengers and will be built to comply with HSC Category B requirements.
The contract strengthens Nova Shipyard’s position in the European passenger vessel market, with the project combining lightweight aluminium construction with high-speed passenger transport capability.
Genco Yener, Founder and CEO of Nova Shipyard, said: “It is not just a signature, but the beginning of something significant. Thanks to NLG for the trust they have placed in us. Nova Shipyard continues its journey in the European passenger vessel market.”
For NLG, the new vessel will support its passenger services across some of Italy’s most popular coastal and island destinations. The operator provides fast connections from Naples to destinations including Capri, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, the Pontine Islands and the Tremiti Islands.
