Offshore Marine People and Academy (OMPA) announce the launch of three new technical training packages for entry into the offshore renewables industry

Leading renewables training and personnel provider Offshore Marine People and Academy (OMPA) has teamed up with AIS Training, a world class training provider which is part of the 3t Energy Group, to offer three new Technical Training Packages to support new entrants into the offshore wind industry. The aim is for young adults joining the industry or people with a cross-industry skill set, to enter into a standard training programme.

Designed to provide delegates with the basic skills to start a career in the offshore wind sector, the packages include OMPA’s ‘Introduction to offshore wind Renewables’ online course, GWO basic safety training, a medical examination and a CV upgrade service. Alongside the core skills two of the packages will also focus on specific roles; Rigger/Slinger and Wind Blade Technician.

With access to AIS Training’s state-of-the-art training facilities throughout the UK, delegates can complete the practical elements of the course combined with the online offering.

OMPA Managing Director, Rob Grimmond, commented “At OMPA we quickly recognised a gap in the market for those looking to transition into the renewables industry from other neighbouring industries i.e. ex service personnel. We wanted to offer training packages which provided the correct practical training alongside knowledge-based training offering a comprehensive introduction to the offshore renewables industry all in one place. Our goal is to make the renewables industry accessible to the huge talent pool out there through collective training and strong partnerships. This is our first step in striving to provide easy access into the offshore renewables industry.”

Geoff Croft, renewables expert at AIS Training remarked “We are delighted to partner with OMPA to deliver its new technical training packages. The offshore renewables industry offers enormous career opportunities to former military personnel and those with a strong technical background so this is a great initiative to help those wanting to transition. Preparing to work in offshore renewables requires specialist training to internationally recognised GWO standards is critical and as the UK’s leading wind training provider we are well equipped to deliver this in partnership with OMPA.”
