Pakistan Navy Commissions ‘Bholu’, the Newest Tugboat

The Pakistan Navy has recently commissioned its latest tugboat, named ‘Bholu’. This significant achievement is the result of a three-year collaboration between the navy and Tor Group. The partnership saw Tor Group providing essential design, material, and supervisory support, culminating in the construction of the vessel at the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works.

Speaking after the Commissioning Ceremony, Tor Group CEO, Kemal Torlak, commented: “I am delighted that after 3 years “Bholu” is successfully commissioned.  It has been a complex project, made more testing by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on supply chains, but ultimately it has been highly successful and proven a model whereby Tor Group is able to partner with third-party yards to deliver an international turnkey shipbuilding solution.”

The collaboration between the Pakistan Navy and Tor Group serves as a testament to the spirit of innovation and cooperation within the maritime industry. Tor Group’s expertise and comprehensive package, which encompassed design expertise, top-quality materials, and supervision, have aided in the successful completion of the project.
