SAAM Towage Welcomes Second Tug for its Operations in Peru

SAAM Towage received a new tug for providing services in Peru. The vessel—the Albatros—was designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built by the Sanmar shipyard. It is well suited for the requirements of the South American terminal.

Its 46-day journey began in Turkey, after which it crossed Panama to reach its final destination.

SAAM Towage’s Country Manager for Chile and Peru, Cristián Cifuentes, commented, “The arrival of this new tug will enable us to continue strengthening our fleet in Peru, where we recently began operating.”

Measuring 24.4 long and 11.25 wide, the Albatros boasts bollard pull of 70 tons and a maximum speed of 13 knots. It features high maneuverability and stability.

SAAM Towage already completed its first maneuver at the terminal in Callao, with assistance from the Valkryria. This berthing and deberthing operation was performed optimally by highly specialized personnel.
