Norwegian designer SALT, alongside Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Adaptive Marine Solutions, will develop the contract design for Canadian Coast Guard‘s planned six-vessel Mid-Shore Multi-Mission fleet.
Norway-based ship designer SALT, in collaboration with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Ottawa-based Adaptive Marine Solutions, has secured a contract from the Canadian government to develop the contract design for a new class of Mid-Shore Multi-Mission Vessels (MSMVs) for the Canadian Coast Guard.
The award marks a significant milestone for the SALT–Kongsberg partnership under the Vanguard product portfolio and is expected to support a future newbuild program comprising six vessels.
Under the agreement, SALT will lead the conceptual vessel design, while Adaptive Marine Solutions will support the detailed engineering work required to deliver a comprehensive contract design package suitable for shipyard tendering.
Designed to combine the capabilities of a coast guard vessel and a research ship, the MSMVs will support a broad operational profile including marine science missions, hydrographic surveying, search and rescue operations, and icebreaking duties in Canadian waters.
