Sanmar Shipyards announce the delivery of TITAN, a versatile multi-purpose tugboat, now operational at Rijeka, Croatia’s principal seaport. The TITAN joins her twin sister, MORETTO, at the port as part of a two-tug contract with the Italian shipping group Scafi for its Croatian subsidiary Jadranski Pomorski Servis.
Previously known as BOĞAÇAY LXXII during construction at Sanmar’s facilities in Türkiye, the TITAN is part of the RAmparts Mark ll Bogacay Series, renowned for its exceptional performance, adaptability, and reliability.
Measuring 24.4m LOA, with a 12m moulded beam, least moulded depth of 4.5m and navigational draft of approximately 5.45m, TITAN is an example of the most technologically-advanced and environmentally-friendly version of Sanmar’s popular and continually evolving Boğaçay class of tugs.
The Robert Allan designed RAmparts Mark ll design has been hailed as the blueprint for the most versatile, multi-purpose type of tug in use today.
The diesel-powered TITAN, which can carry up to 77,900ltrs of fuel oil, is designed for, among other things, optimal efficiency when carrying out ship-handling duties for sea-going ships, and boasts a wide beam for greater performance and stability.
With more powerful engines and larger twin Z-drives than similar-sized tugs, Boğaçay class tugs are Sanmar’s best-selling series and, along with ship-handling duties, are also widely used for coastal towing, escort, and other general purposes.
The Scafi Group is a leader in the Mediterranean towage sector, operating tugs through subsidiaries and joint ventures in Italy, Croatia, Greece, and Morocco. Jadranski Pomorski Servis has been securing the safety of ship navigation in the North Adriatic since 1956, firstly as part of the state-owned company Luka Rijeka, and from 1989, as a privately owned Croatian company.
