Ceremony at Altınova Shipyards marks the steel cutting of the 100th Boğaçay Series tug based on the proven RAmparts 2400SX design

Sanmar has marked a major production milestone with the steel cutting of the 100th tug in its Boğaçay Series, based on the proven RAmparts 2400SX design developed by long-term partner Robert Allan Ltd.

The ceremony, held at Sanmar’s Altınova Shipyards, brought together Robert Allan Ltd. President and CEO Mike Fitzpatrick, representatives from ABS, and members of the Sanmar management team and workforce to celebrate the achievement.

The steel cutting of the 100th tug in the Boğaçay Series represents not only a significant production achievement for Sanmar, but also the enduring strength of a collaboration that has contributed to the development of the modern tug industry for more than three decades.

The Boğaçay Series has become one of the most successful and widely preferred tug ranges designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built by Sanmar. Combining proven performance, strong engineering and operational efficiency, the series stands out as one of Sanmar’s most successful tug ranges, trusted by towage operators around the world.

The story behind this important milestone spans more than three decades of cooperation between Sanmar and Robert Allan Ltd., built on trust, innovation and a shared engineering vision. Over the years, this relationship has evolved into one of the tug industry’s longest-standing and most successful collaborations.

Together, Sanmar and Robert Allan Ltd. have developed and delivered more than 350 tugs. Many of these vessels are now operating in ports around the world. From the challenging waters of Northern Europe to the Americas, and from the Middle East to the Far East, these tugs continue to support modern port operations with their reliability, strength and operational excellence.

Ali Gürün, Vice Chairman & CEO of Sanmar Shipyards, said: “Today, we are celebrating much more than the steel cutting of the 100th Boğaçay Series tugboat. We are celebrating a partnership that has grown stronger with every project and every vessel delivered. Together with Robert Allan Ltd., we have developed and delivered more than 350 tugboats serving operators around the world.

The Boğaçay Series has become one of the most successful outcomes of this collaboration and a symbol of what can be achieved when trust, innovation and engineering excellence come together. Seeing the 100th vessel of this series enter production is a source of great pride for all of us.

This milestone reflects not only what we have achieved together, but also our shared commitment to the future of the maritime industry. As the sector continues its transition towards more sustainable operations, we are proud to continue contributing to that transformation through innovative solutions that combine environmental responsibility with high performance, safety and operational efficiency.”
