The well-functioning collaboration between Skipskompetanse, Rostein and Larsnes Mek. Verksted continues with another order for a new live fish carrier: sister ship to Ro Vision.
Skipskompetanse’s well-known live fish carrier design can be seen all along the Norwegian coast. Now Rostein AS has requested the tenth vessel in a row and the new vessel will be a sister ship to Ro Vision, which in 2020 was delivered as the world’s first hybrid live fish carrier and later that year won the award Ship of the Year 2020.
The new vessel will like Ro Vision be rented out to SalMar ASA.
SIMILAR BUT DIFFERENT
The new LFC-vessel will be similar to Ro Vision but has some differences.
– For an untrained eye it will probably look like a copy of Ro Vision, but some assignment-specific adjustments have been made internally and Rostein are focused on constant development at all times. Even though things have worked well on previous vessels, they want the new vessels to keep on improving. Our good collaboration both with shipowner and shipyard makes the product one of the best, says CEO of Skipskompetanse, Per Jørgen Silden.
PRAISES THE GOOD COLLABORATION
– For one year we have had very good experiences with Ro vision and its gentle solutions and large capacities. It is important for SalMar that our business creates jobs and positive ripple effects along the coast, and with the choice of Rostein as a partner, we know that Norwegian maritime suppliers will have increased activity with this new vessel. SalMar focused on reducing the salmon’s already low carbon footprint and therefore it was important to us that the sister ship also is equipped as a battery hybrid, says CEO of SalMar Farming As, Roger Bekken.
The owner and CEO of Rostein AS, Odd Einar Sandøy, also emphasizes the good cooperation to realize their plans, both for this new vessel as well as the previous ones.
– Our collaboration with Larsnes Mek. Verksted, Skipskompetanse AS and other suppliers have been a success in this series of newbuilds and we are grateful for the trust that SalMar once again shows us. All of Rostein’s 16 vessels are equipped in Norway and in the last 10 years alone we have built for around 3,5 billion NOK in Norway, says Sandøy.
