Tronds Marine Service, a leading provider of heavy lifting, workboats, transport, and barge services, announce the upcoming addition of a new hybrid workboat, currently under construction in Poland, set for delivery in March 2026. This state-of-the-art vessel, designed by ProGreen, marks a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient maritime operations.
The new hybrid workboat has a total length of 28.7 meters and has been engineered to the highest specifications, ensuring both top-tier performance and modern facilities for the crew. The boat will feature six single cabins and two double cabins, providing comfortable accommodations for the crew of eight, who will rotate during operations.
Equipped with a powerful hybrid battery pack of 1445 kWh, the vessel will operate efficiently in both conventional and hybrid modes, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The deck will be fitted with three heavy-duty cranes, and the vessel will feature an impressive bollard pull of 20 tons.
Tronds Marine Service will manage the operation and technical aspects of the vessel, including crew management. The vessel will be chartered by Alsaker Fjordbruk, where it will operate within their business area, serving a variety of operational needs.
“We are grateful for the trust placed in our company and are looking forward to receiving the newbuild and putting it into operation. This trust is a recognition of our competent organization as a whole and opens new opportunities for the company, as well as exciting tasks for our employees”, says Tronds Marine Service, CEO Kjartan Mehammer.
This new hybrid workboat is the latest addition to Tronds Marine Service’s growing fleet, which already includes tugs, floating cranes, barges, and MultiCats. This year, the company has experienced a strong market performance with high activity levels across all segments.
The tugs have been involved in projects spanning the entire Norwegian coast, as well as international voyages to England, Denmark, and Jan Mayen. Meanwhile, the versatile MultiCat “Tronds Flex” has proven invaluable in both the aquaculture sector and the broader industrial market. Additionally, the floating crane “Tronds Lift 8,” with a lifting capacity of 400 tons, has been employed in several high-profile projects from Tromsø in the north to Stavanger in the south.
