Robert Allan Ltd. designed RAmparts 2500W Class escort tug MESSALO delivers 74.85-tonne bollard pull for demanding port duties
Turkish shipbuilder UZMAR Shipyard has delivered the RAmparts 2500W Class escort tug MESSALO to Mozambique’s CFM Logistics SA, following a formal handover ceremony held on 6 March 2026.
The event brought together representatives from the owner, alongside UZMAR executives and project stakeholders, to mark the completion of the newbuild and its transition into operational service.
Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., the RAmparts 2500W Class is tailored for high-performance escort and harbour duties, combining strong manoeuvrability with reliable operation in demanding port environments.
MESSALO measures 25.20 metres in length overall with a beam of 12 metres, and is powered by twin 1,901 kW main engines. The vessel delivers an approximate bollard pull of 74.85 tonnes and a top speed of 13 knots. Accommodation is provided for a crew of six, supporting a broad range of towing, escort and harbour support operations.
Following delivery, the tug will be deployed at the Port of Nacala in Mozambique, a strategically important hub within the region’s maritime infrastructure.
The handover of MESSALO represents a further addition to UZMAR’s portfolio of modern escort tugs, underlining the yard’s continued presence in the global market for high-specification harbour and terminal support vessels.
