UZMAR Delivers Tug “CARABA” to P&O Reyser

UZMAR Shipyard has delivered “CARABA” to P&O Reyser, one of Spain’s leading port service operators, the second in its ground breaking series of asymmetric tractor tugs. With an industry-leading bollard pull of 76.39 tonnes, CARABA now stands as the most powerful vessel in P&O Reyser’s fleet, reinforcing UZMAR’s position as an innovator in high-performance tug design.

Fine-tuned through the experience of her sister tug Balahu, CARABA represents more than a continuation—it’s an evolution. Designed by Cintranaval and powered by twin MAN 12V175D MM+ engines, CARABA combines proven performance with subtle refinements aimed at optimizing real-world port operations.

Equipped with Kongsberg azimuth stern drives (ASD), CARABA offers advanced handling, stability, and precision control tailored to the complex traffic conditions of the Port of Barcelona. Her asymmetrical hull design, developed specifically for high-traffic manoeuvring, enables confident and efficient vessel escort, berthing, and towing operations.

Built to ‘Eco Silent’ class standards and fully compliant with IMO Tier III regulations, CARABA delivers high performance with a light environmental footprint. Enhanced onboard comfort and low emissions make her not only a technical success—but a reflection of modern port service values.

As part of P&O Maritime Logistics, P&O Reyser continues to strengthen its role across 11 key Spanish ports. The arrival of CARABA reinforces this strategy—delivering both raw power and operational finesse to one of Europe’s most dynamic maritime hubs.

From İzmit to Barcelona, UZMAR’s partnership with P&O Maritime Logistics continues to define a new standard in tugboat design and delivery—efficient, sustainable, and ready for the challenges ahead.
