Anglo Belgian Corporation, a leading European manufacturer of medium-speed engines for maritime applications, has unveiled the Evolve 12EV23, a new 12-cylinder V-engine and the latest addition to its next-generation Evolve engine platform, during Europort. The launch marks a significant step forward in their strategy to deliver sustainable, fuel-flexible propulsion solutions for the maritime industry.
Building on the success of the 4EL23, 6EL23 and 8EL23 inline engines and the 20-cylinder 20EV23, the new 12EV23 bridges the gap between compact efficiency and high-performance power. Designed for demanding maritime and industrial applications, it delivers up to 360 kW per cylinder, ensuring dependable operation even under the toughest conditions.
The 12EV23 runs efficiently on (bio)diesel, HVO and other liquid fuels, while being fully prepared for dual-fuel or 100 % gas operation. This adaptability enables operators to advance towards ultra-low or zero-emission performance without major reinvestment, ensuring compliance and competitiveness in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
By avoiding dependence on a single fuel source, Evolve provides a secure long-term investment, offering resilience against policy shifts, fuel market volatility and emerging technologies. Its modular design and versatile cylinder head architecture are designed to facilitate conversion between fuel types, giving operators the flexibility to evolve their engines as their fuel strategy develops.
Combining a 230 mm bore and 310 mm stroke with robust, responsive power delivery, the 12EV23 exemplifies ABC’s reputation for reliability, efficiency and endurance. Like the entire Evolve engine platform range, it is developed and manufactured at ABC’s facility in Ghent, Belgium, with over 85 % of components produced in-house and sourced within the European Union.
With more than 110 years of engine-building expertise, ABC continues to drive innovation in clean, efficient and adaptable propulsion solutions. The launch of the Evolve 12EV23 marks another step forward in ABC’s mission to power a sustainable and resilient future for maritime and industrial applications.
