Marine Jet Power (MJP), a world leader in waterjet propulsion technology, partnered with Marell Boats and Scania to showcase a groundbreaking achievement at SeaWork, Europe’s premier on-water commercial marine exhibition.
The centerpiece of the Seawork event was the highly anticipated public debut of the M17 by Marell Boats. This revolutionary high-speed interceptor features a first-of-its-kind hybrid electric drive system by Scania, seamlessly integrated with MJP’s industry-leading dual 350X waterjets. This marks the inaugural marine application of Scania’s E-Machine technology, proven reliable in the rigorous environment of land-based transportation.
The interceptor effortlessly achieved speeds exceeding 50 knots under diesel power, showcasing its exceptional performance capabilities. However, what truly set it apart was the ability to operate silently on electric drive during low-speed maneuvers and harbor operations. This remarkable feat highlights MJP’s expertise in seamlessly combining power with efficiency, achieved through the optimal pairing of their waterjets with the hybrid propulsion system.
“Marine Jet Power is honored to be at the forefront of this groundbreaking project,” said Robert Magnusson, MJP’s Global Director of Sales. “Our contribution to the M17 underscores MJP’s unwavering commitment to developing sustainable solutions for marine propulsion. We continuously push the boundaries of innovation to address the evolving needs of our diverse customer base. By providing access to the most advanced and environmentally friendly technology available, we empower them to operate efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.”
