System integrator Alewijnse and drive system specialist Van Meer have entered into a strategic partnership to advance the development and integration of hybrid and electric propulsion solutions across the maritime sector. The collaboration was formally announced at Europort in Rotterdam.
Today’s maritime and industrial sectors face major challenges, with energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction targets requiring smart, integrated solutions. Energy generation, storage, distribution, and conversion together will play a key role. Alewijnse and Van Meer share the same vision in these areas and will work closely together in developing and offering hybrid and electric propulsion systems as well as energy storage installations, with digitalisation and innovative technologies acting as important drivers. Together, the companies are offering solutions for all types of projects in the maritime and industrial sectors.
Gert Bravenboer, CEO of Alewijnse, said: “At Alewijnse, we believe that strategic partnerships are the key to faster innovation. We are therefore proud to have found such a partner in Van Meer. Together, we have what it takes to make projects successful. By combining our expertise and experience, Alewijnse and Van Meer can offer clients a wide range of electrical solutions, which we not only manufacture but also install and commission. Clients can source highly complex and advanced products while receiving the best service from a single provider.”
Mischa Habermehl, Solution Manager Power Conversion at Alewijnse, added: “Alewijnse and Van Meer share the same DNA. We are moving from transactional to transformational approaches. We create value through knowledge sharing and practical innovation. As partners, we strengthen each other: one plus one equals three. We accelerate without compromising quality, standardise processes, and reduce risks through modelling and simulation in the pre-engineering phase.”
Luc Van Meer, Director at Van Meer, said: “Van Meer and Alewijnse speak the same language and share the same drive for sustainability. We also share the same vision, both building on long experience in the maritime sector. Together we can achieve a great deal, especially on larger and more complex projects. Mutual trust allows us to truly advance the electrification of shipping.”
