Chartwell Marine Gears Up For Global Expansion With New Senior Hires

Chartwell Marine, the cross-industry pioneer of next-generation vessel design, has invested in its team with two senior hires. Dave Quested joins in a Sales and Business Development role, and Rob Sime has been appointed Principal Naval Architect. Together they will support the commercialisation of Chartwell’s advanced vessel designs across the global offshore wind, leisure, and commercial marine sectors.

The new joiners arrive as Chartwell moves to new premises in Port Hamble to support team growth and improve waterside access for clients, and prepares to launch a new expanded offshore wind vessel range internationally. They will contribute to steadily growing momentum at the business, which currently has over 15 new vessels currently in build at yards across Europe and the USA.

Rob Sime brings with him 20 years of experience in the field. A Chartered Engineer and 2002 Graduate from University of Southampton, he has worked on the design and testing of high-performance vessels across the defence, yachting, ferry, workboat and offshore energy markets, having previously held senior positions at BMT and BAE Systems.

“What drew me to Chartwell was the diversity of projects,” explained Rob. “I have R&D experience in optimising hull design, and that’s a core part of Chartwell’s offering — one which can be adapted for practically any vessel type. On that front, among others, the company has shown it can successfully and consistently punch above its weight in the vessel design landscape with its sheer innovation.

“Given the variety of projects on offer, as well as the close-knit team, I’m ready and eager to support the company as it continues to cross sector and continental lines.”

Dave Quested is an offshore wind industry veteran, having been involved in the CTV market since 2009. A founding member of offshore wind vessel designer and builder CTruk, he co-launched and steered the growth of vessel operator and service provider CWind. In his new role at Chartwell Marine, he will be supporting sales strategy across global markets including Europe, the USA and Asia, building on relationships forged throughout his career.

“I want to create win-win situations,” says Dave. “My goal is to identify new clients and bring them into the fold in a way that benefits everyone involved, including the wider industry. For stakeholders across the board, there are better opportunities now than there ever were on the first wave of offshore CTV development. I’m excited to see lots of familiar faces at Chartwell, whose designs set a clear benchmark not only in offshore wind support, but across a range of sectors.”
