Artemis Technologies Zero-Emission Foiling Ferry For PROP Worldwide

PROP Worldwide, formerly known as PROP SF, announce its official launch as a global brand and its expansion beyond the San Francisco Bay Area. This strategic growth marks a significant step in making sustainable waterborne transit a viable, scalable solution for coastal communities worldwide. As part of this initiative, PROP Worldwide has purchased an Artemis EF-12 Escape foiling ferry, which can be configured for over 30 passengers, to be delivered in 2027.

This partnership is part of PROP’s official rebrand and expansion to redefine ferry services with community-centric, zero-emission solutions that alleviate urban congestion while reducing environmental impact. The Artemis EF-12 Escape, powered by Artemis Technologies’ revolutionary eFoiler® electric propulsion system, offers unmatched efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.

This first vessel acquisition by PROP Worldwide is partially funded through California’s Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) and marks PROP’s first step to scaling operations in waterway dependent communities that are often overlooked by larger ferry routes.

James Jaber, CEO of PROP, shares, “We’ve always doubled down on redefining what ferry services should be, with a community-centric operation focused on accessible solutions that combat urban congestion, while eliminating carbon emissions. On the heels of our Treasure Island Ferry success in the Bay Area, we’ve now established a model that can be replicated across the U.S. and internationally, supporting our goal of growing beyond commuter routes and creating opportunities in the commercial, industrial and offshore service markets.

Jaber highlighted the significance of the partnership with Artemis Technologies, stating, “Artemis Technologies share our commitment to building a zero-emission future and understands the operational realities of diverse waterways, making them an ideal partner to support our growth in commuter markets and specialized sectors.”

David Tyler, Co-Founder of Artemis Technologies, adds, “Our mission has always been to provide a solution that addresses the many transportation challenges urban areas face, while reducing environmental impact. Aligning ourselves with PROP provides us the opportunity to continue to expand our footprint in the US by bringing our market-leading Artemis eFoiler® technology to communities that can benefit most from cleaner, more efficient waterborne transit. Naturally connected waterways make it possible to operate smaller, more flexible vessels that help reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, and extend service to more people.”

Artemis Technologies’ EF-12 Escape leverages the patented eFoiler® system, which enables vessels to foil above the water, reducing drag and delivering more than twice the efficiency of traditional diesel ferries. Key benefits include:

  • Zero operational emissions for a cleaner environment
  • Reduced wake, allowing high-speed operations close to shore
  • Comfortable ride, minimizing vertical accelerations and sea sickness
  • Lower operating costs, with up to 90% savings compared to old ferry designs

Artemis Technologies’ EF-12 vessels are now eligible to be purchased using The Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE), a multi-million project helping to offset the cost of zero-emission technology with point-of-sale discounts. CORE eligibility marks a significant advancement in unlocking funding for Artemis Technologies’ electric watercrafts and incentivizing future investments for sustainable transit alternatives.

Following recent progress in Pierce Country, Washington — where regional leaders are advancing electric ferry projects ahead of the 2026 World Cup — other U.S. cities are exploring transportation innovations to prepare for large-scale events, including the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. These initiatives reflect growing momentum for sustainable transit solutions across the U.S. (Read more on GeekWire).

PROP Worldwide plans to expand further into the Pacific Northwest, Gulf Coast, and select East Coast corridors, while exploring opportunities in Europe and Asia where ferry services are integral to urban mobility.
