AST Networks, a leading provider of maritime connectivity solutions, announce it is among the first global partners to receive a pre-production version of the Lars Thrane LT-2500AC/DC Power Supply. This advanced 500W power solution is engineered to deliver seamless, dependable power to critical onboard systems, even in the most demanding maritime environments.
Built by renowned Danish maritime electronics manufacturer, Lars Thrane, the LT-2500 is a CE Marked and IEC 60945-certified AC/DC power supply, engineered for demanding vessel environments. The unit features dual input capability (115-240 VAC and 24 VDC) with automatic switching, ensuring power continuity for systems including GMDSS, navigation, and communication equipment.
“We are proud to be one of the first to introduce the LT-2500 to the market,” said Marc Langeskov, Group Solutions Manager at AST Networks. “This isn’t just another power supply – it’s a robust, intelligently designed solution that addresses real-world challenges of maritime operations. Our early access means we can immediately support our customers with demonstrations, integration guidance, and technical expertise.”
“We are very happy for AST Networks to be one of our introduction partners of our new LT-2500 Power Supply. AST Networks is one of the very early partners of Lars Thrane A/S and are always an early adopter of new technologies and new equipment”, said Erik Nieuwmeijer, Sales Manager at Lars Thrane A/S.
Key Features of the Lars Thrane LT-2500 AC/DC Power Supply:
- 500W Output at 28 VDC (up to 18A)
- Dual Input: 115-240 VAC and 24 VDC (battery)
- Seamless Handover: Automatic switching between AC and DC inputs
- LED Status Indicators: For AC input and DC output availability
- On/Off Control: AC input can be toggled manually
- Protection Features: Includes short circuit, overload, thermal overload, and fuse protection for both AC and DC inputs
- Alarm Output: Discrete output for no AC source detection
- No Forced Cooling: Efficient thermal design eliminates need for fan-based systems
Benefits for Maritime Customers
The LT-2500 AC/DC Power Supply ensures reliable power delivery in all conditions, thanks to its ability to switch between AC and DC input sources. In the event of a power loss from the primary AC supply, the system automatically transitions to DC input, ensuring continuous operation of critical onboard systems such as GMDSS, communications, and navigation.
Designed specifically for the marine environment, the LT-2500 is IEC 60945-certified and DNV approved, with a rugged construction that withstands vibration, temperature extremes, and the harsh realities of life at sea. Its operating range of -25°C to +55°C and solid-state design make it ideal for vessels of all types.
Despite its durability, the LT-2500 is also compact and highly efficient. Delivering 500W of power at 28 VDC (up to 18 A) without the need for forced cooling, it offers a space-saving and low maintenance solution for onboard power management.
Installation is quick and straightforward. The unit is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and supports large wire cross-sections, commonly found on modern vessels. A user friendly on/off button, clear LED status indicators, and multiple safety features – including short circuit protection, fuse protection, and thermal overload safeguards – make the LT-2500 a smart and reliable choice for marine operators.
Engineered for Harsh Maritime Environments
With its compact dimensions (270 x 291.9 x 62 mm) and a lightweight design (4kg), the LT-2500 integrates easily into a wide range of vessel types, from commercial shipping fleets to offshore installations. Its no-fan thermal design ensures silent, maintenance-free operation, whilst the built-in discrete alarm output allows for proactive monitoring of power conditions.
