AST Networks Partners With CyberOwl to Boost Maritime Cyber Resilience

AST Networks and CyberOwl partnership combines global connectivity expertise with maritime cyber risk monitoring and threat management capabilities

AST Networks has partnered with CyberOwl, a DNV company specialising in maritime and offshore cybersecurity, to strengthen cyber resilience for operators across the maritime and offshore sectors.

The collaboration combines AST Networks’ expertise in global connectivity and managed network services with CyberOwl’s maritime-focused cybersecurity technology and operational insight into vessel IT and OT environments. The result is 24x7x365 cyber security assurance across IT and OT systems and compliance support for organisations operating in remote, distributed, and high-risk environments.

As digital transformation accelerates across industries, organisations are becoming increasingly reliant on connected systems, from vessels at sea to critical infrastructure and remote land-based operations. While this connectivity unlocks efficiencies and insights, it also introduces new cybersecurity risks. This partnership directly addresses those challenges, enabling AST Networks customers to operate with greater confidence, no matter where they are.

Through the partnership, customers will benefit from improved visibility across both IT and OT systems, enabling earlier detection of anomalies and potential threats. CyberOwl’s technology and cyber security analysts monitor and interpret vessel systems and networks, helping both onboard and onshore teams identify and respond to issues before they escalate into operational or financial losses.

In addition, the combined offering supports compliance with evolving cybersecurity regulations and industry standards like IMO 2021, IACS UR E26 and other regimes operated by OCIMF and Rightship, equipping organisations with the tools and insights needed to meet requirements and demonstrate best practice across multiple sectors.

Lukasz Latosinski, Chief Technology Officer at AST Networks, said: “This partnership significantly strengthens our future capabilities as we continue to evolve our offering beyond connectivity alone. By integrating advanced cybersecurity into our portfolio, we are enabling our customers to operate smarter, safer, and with greater resilience. As systems become more connected, ensuring those connections are secure is critical, and this collaboration allows us to deliver exactly that.”

Daniel Ng, CEO, CyberOwl, added: “With rising demand for connectivity and digitalisation, asset owners and operators are increasingly having to evolve their onboard IT and OT networks and systems. This partnership brings together AST and CyberOwl’s expertise to make it easier for shipowners to ensure their onboard networks can become more connected, capable, secure and meet the needs of vessel operations in the 21st century.”

The partnership will be supported by a range of joint initiatives, including educational content, webinars, and customer-focused resources, aimed at helping organisations better understand and address evolving cybersecurity challenges.
