AST Reygar Leads Workboat Code 3 Readiness with BareFLEET

AST Reygar’s BareFLEET Enables Compliance with Workboat Code 3 through Advanced Whole Body Vibration Monitoring

As Workboat Code3 comes into force in stages across the UK maritime sector, AST Reygar has announced enhanced capabilities within its BareFLEET Vessel Motion Monitoring System (VMMS) to support compliance with new Whole Body Vibration (WBV) monitoring requirements.

From December 2026, operators of small commercial and pilot vessels under 24 metres will be required to measure and manage WBV exposure in line with updated Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) standards. BareFLEET’s integrated WBV functionality provides a ready-made solution, enabling continuous, ISO-compliant vibration monitoring without the need for additional onboard hardware (for those vessels with BareFLEET already installed).

“The introduction of WBV monitoring under Workboat Code 3 represents a significant step forward in crew welfare and operational safety. By integrating this functionality into BareFLEET, we’re helping operators meet these new obligations efficiently, using technology many already have installed.” – Chris Huxley-Reynard, Commercial Manager, AST Reygar

BareFLEET employs precision motion sensors and algorithms to quantify vibration exposure through seats and decks, reporting on results. Dashboards provide crews with calculations over time to mitigate vibration at sea, while automated data analysis supports fleet-wide compliance reporting and trend assessment across vessels, routes, and environmental conditions.

As a multi-parameter motion monitoring platform BareFLEET also supports impact force analysis and motion sickness tracking – areas already recognised within Workboat Code 3 – offering operators a unified data environment for vessel safety and performance management.

“We are seeing major port operators already requesting WBV data across fleets,” added Chris Huxley-Reynard. “Early adopters of BareFLEET are not only future-proofing compliance but also gaining deeper insights into vessel behaviour and crew exposure.”
