AST Reygar to Enhance Vessel Performance on Paraguay’s Waterway

AST Reygar, a leading provider of real-time vessel performance monitoring and fuel efficiency solutions, announce a strategic partnership with Guaran Feeder, one of Paraguay’s leading feeder operators on the vital Paraguay-Paraná waterway in South America.

This alliance represents a significant step toward the modernisation of river transport in the region, combining Guaran Feeder’s operational expertise with AST Reygar’s technological innovation. Together, the two companies will work to promote more efficient, safe, and sustainable management of operations in one of South America’s most strategic logistics corridors.

The agreement will enable Guaran Feeder to implement AST Reygar’s BareFLEET remote monitoring and reporting system, to enhance vessel performance across its entire fleet of river tugs operating in inland waters, connecting Paraguay with the HUB ports of the Río de la Plata.

As the first river tug operator to adopt BareFLEET, Guaran Feeder is setting a new standard for operational information and environmental management on South America’s inland waterways. Like other offshore and port tug operators, Guaran Feeder will use BareFLEET to optimise fuel consumption, track emissions, and leverage automated daily reports for greater visibility into operations.

“Guaran Feeder has an ambitious vision to become one of the most technologically advanced river tug operators in South America,” said Chris Huxley-Reynard, Commercial Director at AST Reygar. “Their investment in digital tools such as BareFLEET demonstrates a clear commitment to performance, sustainability, and transparency—principles we are proud to support.”

By integrating BareFLEET’s advanced analytics with existing systems, including Helm CONNECT, Guaran Feeder will be able to analyze tugboat performance in real time, evaluate the efficiency of voyages on different river sections, and make data-driven decisions that reduce costs and environmental impact.

Key benefits for Guaran Feeder include:

  • Fuel and emissions monitoring: Tracking fuel consumption in relation to navigation and route conditions to identify efficiency improvements.
  • Automated daily reports: Replacing manual logs with accurate and timely information on daily vessel activity and operational trends.
  • Fleet-wide performance analysis: Comparing the performance of tugs across the fleet and identifying underperforming assets.
  • Compatibility with Helm Operations system integration: Facilitate smoother processes and better compliance tracking through efficient data exchange between systems.

“As the demands of river transport operations continue to increase, at GF we are convinced that adopting technological tools such as BareFLEET represents a very important step towards innovation,” said Guillermo Brasesco, General Manager of Guaran Feeder. “Our partnership with AST Reygar will not only provide us with greater accuracy in the operational information needed to deliver and maintain an even more efficient service throughout the logistics corridor between the ports of Paraguay and the Río de la Plata, but will also support and reinforce our goal of sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. At the same time, we are moving forward with the process of certifying our SEEMP energy efficiency plan with the RINA classification society, a significant milestone in the region.”
