  • Passengers rate the ship 9.2 and show an excellent loyalty rating.
  • The shipping company has stopped emitting more than 3,300 tons of C0 2 in the first three months of operation of the fast ferry.

The president of Baleària, Adolfo Utor, considers that the fast ferry Eleanor Roosevelt , which has been operating for three months on the Palma-Ibiza-Dénia line, “is technologically a jewel” and points out that “the results in navigability, comfort, vibrations and The acoustics of this Spanish prototype, as well as the acceptance by the users, are exceptional ”.

The catamaran, which is a benchmark in sustainability and digitization, has high-tech innovations that reduce movement, vibrations and noise for a more comfortable journey. “It is a very technologically advanced ship, a prototype that incorporates dual natural gas propellants, and technological and digital advances that make it unique in its class,” says Utor in the balance of the first three months of operation. In low season, a scheduled guarantee grounding is planned, common in this type of innovative projects, where guarantee reviews will be carried out, improving aspects of the project, such as speed, maneuverability and LNG electricity generation.

Outstanding score

The passengers of the Eleanor Roosevelt endorse the Baleària service with very good evaluations. According to surveys conducted when the Eleanor Roosevelt was launched , service on the route achieved an excellent NPS (53.3%), with a loyalty rate of almost 100%. Passengers rated the Eleanor Roosevelt with a 9.2, highlighting aspects such as onboard personnel (9.4), cleanliness (9.3) or punctuality (9.2). In addition, in online surveys conducted through mid-July, the Eleanor Roosevelt is rated above the fleet average in virtually every aspect.

This fast ferry, the first in the world to sail with natural gas engines, has allowed the shipping company to stop emitting more than 3,300 tons of C0 2 since it started operating on May 1. This represents a reduction of -32% in C0 2 compared to if the ship had sailed on diesel these three months. According to the calculations of the shipping company, this innovative ship will annually reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to planting almost 27,000 trees.

The fuel consumption and the efficiency of the engines are monitored thanks to sensors installed on board, within the framework of the Green and Connected Ports project of the EU. Baleària will complete its gas-fired fleet plan in the coming months – when it incorporates the ninth ship powered by this cleaner fuel – in which it has invested 380 million euros, becoming a pioneer shipping company worldwide in the field of sustainability.
