BOS Power Signs Contract with Työvene Electric Propulsion Systems

BOS Power is proud to announce the signing of a major contract with Työvene Oy to deliver a comprehensive battery-electric propulsion system for two new state-of-the-art vessels. The system will be equipped with a Servogear EcoFlow Controlled Pitch Propeller (CPP), ensuring optimal efficiency and performance. The partnership underscores BOS Power’s role as a system integrator, responsible for the entire propulsion line from bridge to propeller.

The vessels, designed by Multi Maritime, will operate by Torghatten on Sweden’s west coast between Strömstad and the Koster islands and are scheduled to commence service fall 2026. Each vessel is designed to carry 248 passengers, cruising at 15 knots. The project involves a DNV classed propulsion system, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.

As a system integrator, BOS Power is delivering not only the complete electric power system but the entire propulsion line with CPP and advanced bridge control systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. This comprehensive delivery is a collaboration between BOS Power and Servogear, a key part of the BOS Power group, renowned for its high-efficiency propulsion solutions.

Together, they are supplying a fully integrated and energy-efficient system built around battery electric power system and controllable pitch propeller, designed to significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions while maximising operational flexibility and vessel performance.

They will deliver our in-house developed Propulsion Control System (PCS), a fully integrated solutionfor controlling and optimising vessel propulsion. Designed to ensure energy-efficient operations, the PCS provides precise control of thrust and engine load under all operating conditions.

“Our energy-efficient propulsion system with controllable pitch propellers secures lower energy
consumption, and reduced emissions, all without compromising performance. By optimizing thrust
across varying load and speed conditions, the vessel operates more efficiently, sustainably, and
reliably every single day”, says Svein Helge Natterøy, Sales Manager at Servogear.

This collaboration shows a close partnership between the shipyard, the shipowner, and BOS Power,
where we have served as the trusted advisor throughout the development process. Torghatten, a part of leading Nordic ferry infrastructure, is a leading and reputable maritime operator with extensive experience in electric and hybrid propulsion systems, is committed to sustainable and efficient maritime operations.

“As a system integrator, we ensure all components work together seamlessly, enabling higher energy efficiency, lower emissions, and greater value for our customer”, says Martin Viksund, Senior Sales Manager at BOS Power

“This approach is central to how we aim to secure and execute future contracts, supporting the future of sustainable passenger transport”, says Frode Skaar, Sales and Marketing Director at BOS Power.

“For Torghatten, having a strong and reliable partner is essential to operating efficiently and
sustainably. BOS Power has strong expertise and will deliver solutions that support our ambitions for electrification” says Hallgeir Magne Lohn, Head of Development at Torghatten.

“Our collaboration with BOS Power has been vital in achieving a propulsion system that meets the
highest standards of safety and environmental performance. Together, we are setting a new standard for maritime innovation,” states Juha Granqvist, CEO at Työvene.
