Cadmatic is proud to be part of the groundbreaking Virtual Sea Trial project, an ambitious initiative aimed at revolutionising the shipbuilding industry.
This collaborative project brings together industry leaders and academic institutions to develop a unified distributed test environment, where virtual commissioning can take place earlier and more efficiently in the shipbuilding process. By shifting testing to digital environments, the project seeks to lower risks, reduce costs, and accelerate the adoption of innovative, green technologies.
The Virtual Sea Trial project features some of the biggest names in the maritime industry, including Meyer, Wärtsilä, Kongsberg, Valmet, and Steerprop, along with leading academic institutions such as Novia University of Applied Sciences, Åbo Akademi University, and the University of Turku. Funded by Business Finland, the project aims to create a sustainable future for shipbuilding by combining physical and digital elements to streamline sea trials and reduce carbon emissions.
At the heart of Cadmatic’s contribution to the project is CADMATIC eShare, our advanced information management solution. eShare plays a critical role in providing digital asset management, ensuring that all stakeholders can easily access and collaborate on essential project data. The solution offers a centralized platform where real-time data is visualized, helping shipyards and ship owners make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Looking ahead, Cadmatic envisions significant advancements for CADMATIC eShare in virtual commissioning.
- AR/VR Data Science – eShare will integrate augmented and virtual reality tools, allowing for seamless visualization of data to predict and monitor carbon emissions in real-time.
- AI-Powered Collaboration – Advanced AI and natural language processing will enable seamless document linking and collaboration, automating the analysis of key documents and ensuring the highest standards in quality control.
- 3D Automation & Simulation – eShare will facilitate the visualization and execution of 3D simulations, helping shipbuilders run automated tests and optimize ship design networks for automation and energy management.
- Carbon Emission Control – eShare will also offer intelligent tools for predicting and controlling carbon emissions, contributing to greener shipbuilding practices
Through this partnership, Cadmatic is at the forefront of efforts to make shipbuilding more efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly. The Virtual Sea Trial project not only supports the adoption of innovative technologies but also promotes a more sustainable, carbon-neutral future for the maritime industry.
