Castoldi S.r.l. has launched the Turbodrive 340 H.C.T., completing the evolution of its entire waterjet portfolio to the company’s latest-generation design following a multi-year engineering programme.
Developed model by model over several years, the programme has modernised every waterjet in Castoldi’s production range while retaining the proven engineering principles that have defined the brand for more than six decades.
The Turbodrive 340 H.C.T. retains Castoldi’s signature axial-flow architecture, first introduced in the 1960s. The new model incorporates a redesigned duct, stator and reversing bucket, together with a newly developed impeller engineered to maximise propulsive efficiency across both medium and high-speed craft. Working alongside the company’s variable geometry intake (B.P.R.), the new hydraulic design has been refined using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis throughout every stage of development.
The latest waterjet also retains several hallmark Castoldi features, including an integrated gearbox with multiple reduction ratios, a built-in hydraulic clutch, the Clear-Duct unclogging system combining backflushing and grid opening, and an impeller shaft rotating within a protective oil-lubricated sleeve to enhance durability and reliability.
Giacomo Castoldi, owner of Castoldi, said: “The Turbodrive 340 H.C.T. is here and with it, our entire waterjet range is now in its latest generation of design. Several years of work by our engineering team have now been completed.”
The Turbodrive 340 H.C.T. is now available to order and has already been selected for vessel projects currently under construction. The company’s waterjets are type-approved by Bureau Veritas, ABS and RINA, supporting deployment across a wide range of commercial vessels and specialist marine applications.
Founded in 1962 by Luigi Castoldi, the company has been producing waterjet propulsion systems since the 1960s, with more than 40,000 units installed worldwide. Its product range comprises waterjets from 50 to 2.700 mHP and a line of jet tenders introduced in the late 1990s, now counting 14 models, three of which are SOLAS-certified and including the JT 34 Limo, the new 10.5 m limousine.
