Falklands Conservation new Island Rib Survey Boat

Island RIBs welcomed Caroline Weir from Falklands Conservation to their factory to sea trial their new Island 7.5m RIB.

The RIB, which will be MCA coded to category 3 (r), will depart next month for the Falkland Islands where it will be used by the Falklands Conservation research team to support their whale survey work.

The Island RIBs team are honoured to be associated with this important project and are looking forward to seeing the RIB at work in the Falklands.

Falkland Islands whale project said – “FC’s Cetacean Ecologist Caroline Weir went to the Isle of Wight yesterday to visit our new survey boat, which will support our Darwin Initiative whale survey work in 2022 and 2023. The boat was built by Island RIBs and will comply with UK safety standards to provide a safe working platform for the Falklands Conservation research team while operating off remote coasts in the Falklands. We sure hope the whales will like it!
