Looking back at 2024, Glo Marine, a provider of marine engineering and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, reflects on a year marked by challenges, problem-solving, and teamwork. Over the past year, Glo Marine successfully tackled over 60 engineering projects worldwide, ranging from offshore units to commercial vessels, delivering solutions for structural modifications, system integrations, and compliance upgrades.

Over 60 Projects Delivered in 2024

Engineering in retrofit projects is a whole different challenge compared to newbuilds. There’s no clean slate—every vessel comes with its own constraints, surprises, and real- world limitations. The key to success isn’t just technical know-how, but problem-solving, adaptability, and determination to find the right solution within the existing framework.

While GLO Marine is now a true end-to-end Engineering, Procurement, and Construction provider, engineering remains at our core. It’s what sets us apart. Every project we take on starts with a thoroughly designed engineering plan, ensuring that every decision is built on solid technical expertise.

Below is a summary of last year’s performance in terms of engineering work:

Various Vessel Mobilization for OSVs such as: 18 projects / 8.000 hours

  • Design of mezzanine deck for PSV
  • Integration of launch and recovery systems (LARS)
  • Integration of heave-compensated crane
  • Integration of W2W platforms
  • Stability calculations for mobilization of offshore crane on modular barge

Vessel Conversion Projects: 5 projects / 10.000 hours

  • Design of foundation for heavy equipment onboard an OSV engaged in subsea works
  • Conversion from PSV to the cable-laying vessel by integrating a vertical cable-laying system over the vessel moonpool
  • Class notation upgrades to comply with IP Code
  • Addition of FIFI class notation

Vessel Upgrades: 8 projects / 9.000 hours

  • Upgrade of mooring fittings to Panama Canal requirements
  • Design of gangway platforms for safe access between living quarters
  • Integration of SCR and silencers in the engine room
  • Replacement of main and auxiliary diesel generators

Retrofit Projects: 26 projects / 17.000 hours

  • BWTS integration to comply with IMO requirements
  • BWTS closed-loop integration for vessels sailing in the same waters
  • Engine room retrofit to replace the propulsion system
  • Retrofit of peak shaving equipment by installation of an energy shaft recuperation device
