Juan Jorge R. becomes the fourth passenger vessel GONDAN has delivered to Líneas Romero, reinforcing a long-standing collaboration
Spanish shipbuilder GONDAN has delivered the Juan Jorge R., the latest high-speed passenger catamaran built for Canary Islands operator Líneas Romero, marking the fourth vessel supplied to the ferry company over the past decade.
Constructed in glass-reinforced polymer (GRP), the 31-metre catamaran has a 10.5-metre beam and can accommodate up to 340 passengers. Powered by twin 1,400hp engines, the vessel is designed to achieve service speeds of up to 20 knots.
The use of GRP construction reduces overall vessel weight, improving fuel efficiency while enhancing hull performance and operational efficiency. Among its main features, it includes the “wave piercing” bow design, which allows to maintain speed in adverse sea conditions, displacing water towards the side tunnels in order to reduce wave slamming.
The delivery further strengthens the long-standing partnership between GONDAN and Líneas Romero. The Juan Jorge R. follows the earlier deliveries of the Don Juan R., Alexandro R. and Luis R., reinforcing the operator’s continued confidence in the Spanish shipbuilder’s expertise in high-performance passenger ferries.
The latest addition to the fleet is to support Líneas Romero’s regional ferry services, providing efficient and reliable transport across the Canary Islands while continuing the operator’s investment in modern, lightweight passenger vessels.
