Harlyn, an engineering-led transportation company, announce the safe and successful completion of mobilisation works for the JD Assister vessel, equipped with the advanced Helix Robotics Solutions i-Plough spread, at the Port of Blyth. The operation was executed to the highest quality and safety standards.
Harlyn’s scope included full mobilisation management, transportation of major equipment to the quayside, vessel loading, and the engineering, fabrication, and installation of all required grillages and interface structures. The team also oversaw heavy lifts, sea fastening, deck setup, and the final load testing of the A-frame.
Key deliverables included:
- Design, fabrication, and installation of mobilisation grillages
- Lifting and installation of i-Plough, ROV spread, cabins, winches, and associated equipment
- Execution of all RAMS, lift plans, and HSE procedures
- Coordination with Helix Robotics Solutions and vessel crew for seamless integration
Prefabrication was completed off-site to reduce vessel time, and all works were carried out in line with Harlyn’s rigorous QHSE protocols. The mobilisation at the Port of Blyth culminated with successful load testing and handover to Helix for final commissioning activities.
This project highlights Harlyn’s capability to deliver complex offshore support operations safely and efficiently. We thank Helix Robotics Solutions for their collaboration and trust throughout this successful mobilisation campaign.
Harlyn’s expertise in managing technically demanding vessel mobilisations and offshore engineering works is directly aligned with the requirements of the renewables industry. Likewise, Helix’s advanced tooling and trenching capabilities, such as the i-Plough system, are instrumental in the efficient installation and protection of critical subsea infrastructure including export and inter-array cables for offshore wind farms.
Together, Harlyn and Helix Robotics Solutions are proud to contribute to the development of sustainable offshore energy projects, helping to drive down costs, improve reliability, and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.
“This mobilisation was a great example of how strong teamwork, careful planning, and close coordination can deliver a complex project smoothly. Our team worked efficiently to manage all aspects of the operation, overcoming the usual challenges that come with this type of work. Thanks to the excellent collaboration with Helix Robotics Solutions and the vessel crew, everything was completed to a high standard and on schedule.” – Hamish Adamson, Harlyn Managing Director
