HydroSurv Deliver USV with WASSP multibeam to Foyle Marine & Dredging

HydroSurv, in partnership with WASSP Multibeam from Furuno UK announce the delivery of a REAV-28 Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) equipped with a WASSP multibeam echosounder system, which will enter service with Foyle Marine & Dredging. This important new collaboration marks the first delivery of this turnkey system, ideally suited to providing cost-effective bathymetric survey for marine construction and dredging applications.

The REAV-28, remotely operated uncrewed vessel combined with the WASSP multibeam echosounder integrated into EIVA Kuda Core survey software represents superb value to marine service operators requiring professional- level survey capabilities without the premium price-tag. For accurate and efficient bathymetric survey, WASSPʼs innovative technology features the companyʼs powerful Real-time Processing Module (RPM) with enhanced ping rates, Survey specific tracking algorithms and 120-degree swath width using advanced signal processing.

“We’ve seen growing demand from marine service operators outside of the survey supply chain for a solution that addresses the gap between single-beam echo sounder and high-end multibeam solutions,” said David Hull, Founder & CEO of HydroSurv. “Partnering with WASSP, we’ve been able to put a powerful tool into the hands of the team at Foyle Marine & Dredging that will drastically reduce the costs of repeated resurveys in their construction and dredging projectsˮ

Developed with affordability and scalability in mind, the WASSP enables marine operators to perform precise surveys whilst reducing the magnitude of their capital investment. The multibeamʼs compact DRX transceiver serves as the system’s powerhouse, delivering real-time data processing reliably and energy efficiently. Hosted from the REAV-28 USV, the solution equips Foyle Marine & Dredging with a survey tool that reduces dependency on conventional vessels to meet evolving operational demands.

“The integration of WASSP into HydroSurvʼs REAV-28 is a testament to our commitment to providing cost-effective, high-performance tools that enhance marine survey and dredging operations,” said Rufus Whiteford, Business Development Manager at Furuno UK. “We’re proud to see this collaboration delivering immediate and tangible benefits to Foyle Marine & Dredging.

Foyle Marine & Dredging, a leader in marine construction operations within the UK and Ireland will begin using the platform in their projects within the coming weeks. The capability to obtain high-resolution bathymetric data in-stride with their operations will enable construction and dredging operations to be executed timely and efficiently, while maintaining cost control.

For HydroSurv and WASSP Multibeam, collaboration on the delivery of similar USV-centric survey solutions for customers from adjacent sectors in the marine and maritime space is anticipated over coming months.
