Iskra Shipyard Secures Zadar County Fireboat Order

Zadar fireboat designed by Metal Shark will feature twin Volvo Penta IPS950 propulsion and a 150nm cruising range

Croatian shipbuilding and repair specialist Iskra Shipyard has signed a contract with the Firefighting Association of Zadar County, Croatia, to build a new fire fighting and rescue boat, designed by Metal Shark Boats and specifically engineered to support firefighting and emergency response operations at sea.

The vessel will strengthen emergency response capabilities across the county’s coastal and island areas, providing enhanced capacity for rapid intervention in demanding maritime conditions.

The contract was signed by Iskra Shipyard CEO Roko Vuletić, Ph.D., and Firefighting Association of Zadar County president Željko Šoša.

The vessel will have a 14.7-metre hull length, a 4.4-metre hull beam and an overall length of approximately 15 metres. Propulsion will come from two Volvo Penta IPS950 systems, each delivering 533 kW at 2,500 rpm.

The propulsion package will enable a maximum speed of 27 knots, while the vessel will have a cruising range of 150 nautical miles.

Additional equipment will include a 19.4 kW Solé Diesel generator and an Italwinch Starplus 3.6 kW anchor windlass. The vessel will have a draft of 1.35 metres and an overall beam of 4.7 metres.

The project forms part of the EU-funded RESILIENT ARCHIPELAGO: Development and Enhancement of the Resilience of the Island Area of Zadar County initiative.
