Kewatec delivers fourth SAR Vessel and signs for fifth

Kewatec, a leader in advanced vessel construction for search and rescue operations, is proud to announce the delivery of its fourth Search and Rescue vessel to the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association (ICE-SAR), known locally as Slysavarnafélagið Landsbjörg. The handover ceremony took place at the Rescue 24 event in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Built to withstand some of the most challenging maritime conditions, the new SAR boat, named Björg, is a 17-meter, self-righting vessel that significantly enhances the efficiency and safety of rescue operations. Powered by two Scania DI13 551 kW engines and Hamilton HJ403 waterjet propulsion systems, Björg offers outstanding power, maneuverability, and reliability, enabling ICE-SAR teams to perform at their best in critical situations.

Over the past three years, Kewatec has successfully delivered four SAR boats to ICE-SAR, showcasing the strong and ongoing partnership between the two organizations. This collaboration continues with the recent signing of a contract for a fifth SAR boat, further reinforcing Kewatec’s commitment to providing cutting-edge, reliable solutions for life-saving missions.

Attendees of Rescue 24 were invited to experience the new SAR boat firsthand, underscoring Kewatec’s dedication to supporting rescue teams with the advanced tools they need. Kewatec is contributing to the safety and preparedness of search and rescue teams not just in Iceland, but across Europe.
