Kewatec Patrol Boat Delivered to NATO FORACS in Crete

Kewatec, a leading Nordic shipbuilder specializing in high-performance professional and workboat vessels, has delivered a Kewatec Patrol 1540, named ΚΡΗΤΗ (KRITI), for operations in Souda Bay, Crete. The patrol boat will support NATO Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons (FORACS) measurement activities, providing essential capabilities for personnel transport, equipment deployment, and surveillance tasks.

The Kewatec Patrol 1540 is a purpose-built and dependable patrol boat, engineered to perform with control and predictability even in challenging conditions. Powered by two Cummins QSC 8.3 engines with Kongsberg Kamewa S32 waterjets, she combines speed, maneuverability, and reliability. With a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top speed of 36 knots, the Kewatec Patrol 1540 ensures efficient operations during long shifts.

Measuring 15.4 meters in length and 4.4 meters in width, the vessel strikes the right balance between stability and agility. The wheelhouse and crew spaces are designed for comfort, focus, and efficiency, while the large aft deck with a hydraulic crane and UV-protected Bimini top makes it highly functional for mission equipment and operations.

“We are satisfied with the vessel and the collaboration with Kewatec went well during the building process. We really appreciated having the chance to be involved in the design of our boat. Our wishes were listened to and taken into account, and we’re very happy with the result. The Kewatec team is skilled and easy to work with, and the solutions they provided make the boat smooth and practical to use in operation.” — Lieutenant Commander Dimitrios Botsaris HN , Head of Acceptance Committee

With its advanced design, high-quality build, and carefully tailored details, the Kewatec Patrol 1540 is well-equipped to serve as a trusted support vessel for demanding missions in Souda Bay and beyond.
