Kewatec to Build Six Rescue 1700 Lifeboats for the Polish Maritime SAR

Kewatec, a leading Nordic shipbuilder, has signed a contract with the Polish Maritime Search and Rescue Service (MSPiR) for the delivery of six Rescue 1700 class lifeboats. The agreement is valued at approximately EUR 25 million, marking one of the company’s most significant international orders to date.

The agreement strengthens maritime safety in the Baltic Sea region and marks a new milestone in the story of Kewatec’s successful Rescue 1700 series. The lifeboats will be built in Kokkola and will be deployed in six different ports in Poland, where they will serve in a variety of search and rescue missions.

The Rescue 1700 lifeboats have already proven its performance in use by the Icelandic ICE-SAR and the French Civipol. For deliveries to Poland, the model has been further developed: the boats’ engine power and fire-fighting capacity have been increased, as well as other customer-specific improvements that meet the needs of the Polish maritime rescue authority. The propulsion will be two Scania DI16 engines & Hamilton HTX42 waterjets – for maximum speed, manoeuvrability, and reliability. This is already the third production series of this model.

“The Rescue 1700 offers the perfect combination of strength, durability and proven reliability,” says Mika Klapuri, Sales Manager. “We are proud to support those whose mission is to save lives at sea – and to continue developing a model that has already proven its worth in the harshest conditions.”

Kewatec emphasizes the same principle in every project: boats are not just boats, but tools that are designed together with end users to ensure efficiency, comfort and reliability throughout their entire life cycle. This philosophy, based on the Nordic shipbuilding tradition and practical coastal culture, is the reason why authorities around the world trust Kewatec’s solution.

The new delivery significantly strengthens Poland’s maritime rescue capabilities and at the same time Kewatec’s position as a pioneer in reliable solutions developed for demanding tasks.
