Lehmann Marine’s modular battery technology supports hybrid propulsion aboard new Chinese-built crew boat
Lehmann Marine has secured its first Chinese deployment of its CUBE battery system following the commissioning of the modular energy storage solution aboard the AESEN 116H, a 42-metre hybrid fast crew boat built for Singapore-based operator AESEN.
Part of Sunlight Group, Lehmann Marine supplied its air-cooled CUBE battery system for the AESEN 116H’s fully integrated hybrid propulsion package, delivering estimated fuel savings of 30–40% compared with conventional crew boats operating under similar operating conditions..
Built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in China and equipped with hybrid propulsion integrated by marine systems specialist Stin Global, the vessel marks Lehmann Marine’s debut installation at a Chinese shipyard. The con-tract highlights the ongoing demand for European systems engineering in Asia‘s competitive shipbuilding sector, where class-certified safety and high operational reliability remain decisive selection criteria.
Operating in high-frequency offshore transit and field logistics, the AESEN 116H utilises Lehmann Marine’s air-cooled CUBE battery system for peak shaving and zero-emission harbour manoeuvres. Selected to meet stringent crew safety standards and BV, DNV, LR and RINA class approvals, the German-engineered platform features a modular architecture that allows technicians to service or replace individual components directly on board, avoiding costly drydock delays.
