MacArtney Secures Tensioner Package for New Cable Layer Althea

Package includes dual 50-tonne units, auxiliary tensioners and a 20-tonne retrofit for DP-2 cable layer Althea

MacArtney Offshore Solutions, a global supplier of underwater technology products and systems.  has secured a contract with Asso.subsea to deliver a complete tensioner package for the company’s new DP-2 cable laying vessel, Althea.

The award covers the supply of two 50-tonne tensioners, two 15-tonne tensioners, and one 3-tonne track tensioner, in addition to the retrofit of an existing 20-tonne tensioner. The equipment package has been engineered and developed to ensure precise cable tension control and reliable performance under varying offshore operating conditions.

The combination of proven technology and a solid performance record across tensioners of all sizes and specifications was among the key factors influencing Asso.subsea’s choice of supplier.

Asso.subsea requires equipment that performs consistently in demanding environments. We are pleased to provide them with our latest tensioner technology designed to ensure safe, precise, and reliable cable handling, explains Carsten Givskov, Sales Engineer at MacArtney Offshore Solutions.

The new tensioners will be designed to align with Asso.subsea’s cable laying vessel operational requirements. These tensioners ensure maximum safety and efficiency during cable installation through high-precision controls.
