Marine Technologies and Zeabuz to Deliver Situational Awareness Suite for Offshore Wind Vessels

Marine Technologies LLC, a leader in marine control systems and smart ship solutions, and Zeabuz AS, a pioneer in maritime autonomy and situational awareness technologies, are pleased to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent to collaborate on the delivery of an advanced situational awareness suite for the Maersk Offshore Wind designed Articulated Tugs and Barges (ATBs), owned and operated by Edison Chouest Offshore and currently being constructed by Bollinger Shipyards. The ATBs will work on the offshore wind farm for Empire Offshore Wind together with MSS Sturgeon.

This strategic partnership outlines the intent of both companies to work together on the development and integration of a state–of–the–art situational awareness solution tailored specifically for ocean–going offshore wind farm feeder ATBs. The LOI marks a significant step toward a formal agreement that will establish the foundation for this important collaboration.

The situational awareness suite is designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of the ATBs so the operators can keep a proper lookout during the transit from port to the Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) with the latest in marine technology to meet the demanding requirements of offshore wind farm operations. By combining MT’s expertise in marine control systems with Zeabuz’s cutting–edge situational awareness technologies, the partnership aims to deliver a comprehensive solution that will set new standards in the industry.

“We are thrilled to partner with Zeabuz on this groundbreaking project,” said Sveinung Tollefsen, General Manager at Marine Technologies LLC. “This collaboration represents a significant opportunity to leverage our combined strengths and deliver a solution that will greatly benefit the offshore wind industry.”

Zeabuz AS echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of the partnership. Dr. Øyvind Smogeli, Chief Executive Officer at Zeabuz AS, stated, “We are excited to join forces with Marine Technologies LLC to provide an innovative and robust situational awareness suite that will enhance the operational capabilities of the ATBs and other future projects”

The project is a key component of the ongoing efforts to support the growing offshore wind industry, which requires highly specialized vessels equipped with advanced technologies to operate safely and efficiently in challenging environments. The LOI therefore also includes a joint approach to expand market reach through this kind of solution.

Both companies are committed to furthering their collaboration and finalising the terms of their partnership in the coming months. The Parties expect to move forward with formal agreements that will solidify their joint efforts and pave the way for the successful delivery of the situational awareness suite to Bollinger Shipyards.
