Maritime Montering Secures Major Turnkey Contract for North Star SOV

Maritime Montering, a global leader in high-quality ship interior solutions, has been awarded a significant new contract by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) following a competitive international tender. The agreement covers the full turnkey delivery of accommodation and HVAC systems for a new hybrid Service Operation Vessel (SOV) being built for North Star Shipping, a leading UK-based offshore energy support operator

The vessel is the second in CSL’s current program for North Star, following the VARD 4 19 SOV design, and is being built to meet the demanding needs of the offshore wind industry.

The newbuild SOV will feature a walk-to-work gangway system (W2W) with a corresponding elevator for seamless, step-less access to the transition piece. Designed as both a logistics hub and floating accommodation, the vessel will house up to 80 people in single cabins, including crew and offshore wind specialists responsible for maintaining turbines.

Maritime Montering will deliver 2,883 sqm of turnkey accommodation, including all interior outfitting and HVAC systems. The project will be executed by the company’s international teams in Romania and India, combining local presence with global expertise.

Maritime Montering is a global supplier of turnkey accommodation solutions for the maritime industry. With strategically located offices and production hubs across Europe and Asia, the company delivers high-quality interiors that combine technical performance with comfort and durability.

“Our global presence gives us a real advantage,” said Cornel Mihaila, Project Manager at Maritime Montering Romania. “With a strategically located office in Kochi, we provide on-site expertise for Indian shipyards, while our Romanian office serves as a European hub for material supply and quality control. This synergy ensures that every vessel entrusted to us is delivered on time and to the highest standards of quality.”

Joseph J. Alappat, Head of Purchase and Sales at Maritime Montering India, added: “We are proud of our longstanding cooperation with Cochin Shipyard. Building on a long track record of successfully delivered vessels, we now look forward to bringing our expertise to North Star’s SOV. Our focus is to ensure the vessel is outfitted to the highest standards of comfort – from technical areas to living spaces – with every detail harmonized to support the crew in their demanding missions at sea.”
